EU's Foreign Subsidies Regulation

European Commission’s (EC) recent Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR) allows the EC to review subsidies granted by non-European Union (EU) states to companies operating in the EU. The FSR is introduced to ensure a level playing field in the internal market of the EU by requiring companies to disclose information about the foreign subsidies they receive. Under the new regulation, the EC is authorised to investigate subsidies pursuant to a notifications filed by the companies, or on its own initiative.
