Can YILDIZ provides advice to Turkish and multinational companies active in numerous industries including FMCG and retail, automotive, finance, energy, transportation and digital platforms. His practice especially focuses on competition law matters, investigations within the scope of competition law, M&A transactions, and economic regulation. He has defended high profile undertakings active in numerous industries in over 30 investigations conducted by the Competition Authority concerning a broad array of allegations. Additionally, he has represented a variety of leading multinational corporations operating in a wide range of geography including Turkey, Europe and United States in connection with merger control filings in Turkey. He advises and aids multinational and local companies on competition law matters on a daily basis. He further represented undertakings in annulment lawsuits and appeals pertaining to decisions of the Competition Board.

He also provides assistance and consultancy with regard to data protection law, US economic sanction regime and international anti-corruption and anti-bribery compliance programs.

He completed his law degree in Bilkent University and is fluent in English and Turkish.

Experience

• Provided competition law consultancy on a regular basis to leading domestic and multinational firms operating in various industries such as automotive, airline transport, port services, logistics, financial services, online retail, FMCG, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, fertilizers, chemicals, tourism, online accommodation services and paper packaging.
• Worked in the Competition Compliance Department of a company on a secondment, who is the market leader in the beer industry, provided daily consultancy services to the client, responded to all questions regarding competition law, and conducted competition law audits and trainings.
• Represented a major airline company, a major retail market chain, a major non-alcoholic beverages supplier, an automotive distributor, a significant manufacturer of fertilizers, an online accommodation reservation platform, a multinational manufacturer of personal and home care products, an international technology firm, a foreign investment bank and a multinational technology retailer fim before the Turkish Competition Authority in separate investigations.
• Represented companies and foreign private equity firms in the merger control filing in Türkiye throughout their numerous acquisitions and mergers.
• Represented multinational and local undertakings in annulment lawsuits and appeals pertaining to decisions of the Turkish Competition Board.
